The Healthy Communities Foundation Australia shared mental health support information at the Men’s Shed Health Muster in Narooma on the NSW South Coast bringing together around 120 men from 11 Men’s Sheds across the Eurobodalla and Bega Shires.
The Foundation’s Community Engagement Officer, Glenn Cotter, said the muster was an opportunity for face-to-face conversations with Men’s Shed members about supporting themselves and each other through mental health challenges, and finding help in their local communities.
“We were thrilled to be invited to take part, to share information on the important topic of mental health support, and to connect people with the programs the Foundation provides across South Coast NSW — including the Mental Health Tune Up Program,” Glenn said.
The day also featured presentations on healthy eating, exercise, and protecting yourself from online scams. Other service providers in attendance included the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), Diabetes Australia, Southern NSW Local Health District, Audiology Australia, Red Cross Australia, and the Prostate Cancer Support Group.
