Australian Medical Graduates

The Foundation partners with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to deliver the Remote Supervision Program.

Remote supervision provides high quality training opportunities for GP Registrars where there is limited or no on-site supervision.

During their placement, Registrars are supervised by an off-site fellowed GP who uses telephone and video to teach, advise and provide real-time assistance when it is needed.

At the Foundation we have enhanced the program by providing access to off-site supervisors who were long-term practitioners in West Armidale, ensuring you get access to relevant support and training specific to your placement.  Our off-site practitioners visit the practice regularly as part of the program (one of the practitioners continues his GP Anesthetics practice at the Armidale Hospital).

Our Supervising GPs are paid by the Foundation to be provide dedicated supervision to each trainee and are available when you need them. Rather than waiting for an on-site GP to finish with their patient, you have access to highly experienced doctors as soon as you need them.

Our on-site practice and nursing staff are experienced in supporting Registrars to meet their training requirements.

The Foundation is committed to supporting Australian medical graduates who are passionate about careers in rural, remote and regional practice to get high quality supervision and support in regional areas to help them towards their goal.

International Medical Graduates

The Foundation supports International Medical Graduates (IMGs) pursuing a fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

International Medical Graduates are supported by the Centre to optimise learning outcomes on a pathway to Fellowship of the respective colleges, while gaining unparalleled experience and support in remote, rural and regional practice.

The Centre of Excellence in Rural and Remote Medical Career Training is linked to our Centre of Excellence in Integrated People-Centered Care in Collarenebri allowing IMGs to gain crucial experience in Aboriginal, aged and chronic disease health in an MMM6 remote community. IMG's have the opportunity to work at the Collarenebri site for a week per month, or on another agreed schedule subject to family and other commitments, to accelerate their learning, while remaining a core part of the Armidale team.

While in Armidale the Foundation supports IMGs with buying a house, getting access to elite schools and supporting you to Fellowship

IMGs who have been assessed at Level 3 can apply to complete their time in Armidale through the Remote Virtual Training Scheme (RVTS). Remote supervision provides high quality training opportunities for GP IMGs where there is limited or no on-site supervision.

The Foundation is committed to supporting International medical graduates who are passionate about careers in rural, remote and regional practice to get high quality supervision and support in regional areas to help them towards their goal.
